Clinical Administrative Support Services (CLASS)

Permanent, Full-Time Position

Brampton Site

ErinoakKids is currently seeking a dynamic individual to join the Clinical Administrative Support Services team in the role of Supervisor, Health Records. Based out of the Brampton site, this position serves as the immediate supervisor for the Health Records team and will be accountable for the Health Records Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and supervision to the Health Records team in order to meet organizational service requirements
  • Develops staff through guidance, role modelling and motivation to achieve individual and team performance objectives
  • Ensures appropriate delegation of resources to meet organizational requirements
  • Fulfills key responsibilities related to privacy protocols including incident management, breach management, and reporting to chief privacy officer.
  • Understands and provides training and support to others on health information policies
  • Responds to and manages Access Requests
  • Participates in and manages Audit Reporting
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for staff inquiries regarding documentation and health information issues, guidelines, policies and legislative requirements
  • Protect client information and promote privacy/confidentiality awareness
  • Correspond with a variety of Children’s Treatment Centers, hospitals, schools, lawyers and other regional agencies to appropriately release ErinoakKids’ client’s PHI (Personal Health Information)
  • Process, store, archive and dispose of client records in accordance with PHIPA, and review and revise organization forms
  • Identify and lead quality improvement and change management initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a leadership position in a health care environment
  • Health Records Administrator Diploma or a 2-year Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology.
  • Certified Health Information Management professional and a Member of the Canadian Health Information Management Association is mandatory.
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, health information best practices, and privacy legislation
  • Advanced computer skills, and knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office and Meditech
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; attention to detail to manage work, information- gathering, completing deadlines and sensitive projects
  • Experience supporting large scale clinical environments
