Baycrest has an opportunity for a

PROGRAM DIRECTOR, RESIDENTIAL AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, FULL TIME

Residential Living is composed of The Terraces of Baycrest and 2 Neptune Residential Properties. The Terraces of Baycrest Retirement Residence provides older adults with the privacy of independent living, along with supportive services.  2 Neptune, Reubin Cipin Building Healthy Living Community is a condominium-style lease and rental residence designed for active and independent seniors.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Establishes, implements, manages and improves standards for health care, policies and procedures for quality resident/member care to meet individual resident/member needs based on organizational policies and legislative requirements
  • Reviews all resident applications for admission to determine appropriate level of care; assists with processing of admission and discharge papers
  • Directs and monitors the maintenance of health care records to ensure compliance with regulations and quality care for the resident
  • Develops programs that meet the changing needs of the client population
  • Participates in the recruitment, employee and labour relations, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions
  • Develops and implements structures and processes that establish meaningful relationships between clients, families, staff, physicians and volunteers
  • Establishes and maintains strategic alliances with members of the healthcare industry, community organizations, partners, and other stakeholders (e.g. CCAC, Parkinson’s Foundation, Canadian Stroke network, etc.) to further the effective and efficient operation of the programs.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • Bachelor of Science – Nursing or equivalent
  • Post–RN education, certification or degree in nursing administration and management, preference is business degree in health management, particularly long-term care and further education in gerontology, geriatrics or rehabilitation
  • Current membership with Gerontological Nursing Association (GNA) and Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant management or leadership experience in health care, or long-term care home, or head nurse in chronic care or senior management in a health community agency
  • 3 to 5 years of clinical experience in long term care, retirement residence, or community clinic
  • 2-5 years of leadership experience at a Management level
  • Excellent communication, team building, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Collective Agreements and experience in a unionized setting preferred
  • Demonstrated ability and confidence to work collaboratively with all levels and members of the interdisciplinary team
