Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an experienced health care professional with advanced knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) evidence-based protocols. The candidate will have a demonstrated track record of striving for continuous improvement to protect patients, families, staff members and the community. The position is well established at HSN, with managerial responsibility for a team of seven staff, working in collaboration with a Medical Director who holds a specialization in Infectious Disease. The Clinical Manager we are seeking has strong relationship building and change management skills to proactively engage the workforce and our partners in mobilizing protocols to prevent and contain the spread of infection. The ideal candidate has strong influencing and leadership skills and consistently demonstrates critical thinking, to ensure the most appropriate IPAC strategies are implemented and sustained. Building rapport with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with Public Health and clearly articulating IPAC requirements with medical professionals and stakeholders is a required skill. The successful candidate will demonstrate resiliency and capacity building to ensure infection prevention and control practices is the responsibility of all staff, patients, partners and visitors to HSN.  This position operates in a continuous improvement culture to achieve results.
 
The successful candidate should have at a minimum, a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field (e.g. Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health) from an accredited university. A current Certificate in Canadian Infection Control (CIC) is required. Ideally, the candidate has a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in Infection Control within an Acute Care or health care environment with a minimum of two (2) years’ working in a leadership/supervisory role, preferably in a health care environment.
