DEPARTMENT: Perioperative Services
TITLE: Program Manager (Full-Time Position)
ROLE LEVEL: MSIV $96,287.56 to $117,929.18 per annum
HOURS OF WORK: Days
LOCATION: Kingston General Hospital site
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
Accountable for the coordination, delivery and evaluation of patient care, risk management, continuous quality improvement, for the unit/program. Develop and implement policies and procedures, pre-printed orders; develop, implement and evaluate collaborative care plans, unit based education programs, coordinate patient care with other departments/programs. Develop, manage and evaluate the operations of a service or program, ensuring efficient and effective deployment and use of human, financial, and material resources.
 
Develop program/unit budgets, analyse budget variances and capital requests, develop and maintain staffing schedules and daily changes, ensure that adequate and appropriate medical equipment and supplies are available; lead a variety of teams, internal and external to the program, eg. Joint Patient Care Teams.
 
 
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Foster an environment that supports the organization’s mission, vision and values.
  • Ensure goals and objectives are developed and executed in alignment with KHSC’s vision, values and strategic priorities.
  • Manage the operations of a service or program, ensuring efficient and effective deployment and use of human, financial and materiel resources.
  • Manage staff resources, ensuring appropriate balance of skills and capabilities, assessing service quality, providing performance feedback and discipline, prioritizing workloads and schedules, handling grievances and managing training and development needs.
  • Manage the logistics to enable the response to day-to-day operational and patient care needs and initiatives.
  • Develop, manage, evaluate and improve patient care/service delivery and programs.
  • Manage quality assurance ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, professional and service quality standards, organizational policies and health and safety standards and protocols.
  • Ensure regulatory and operations reporting requirements are achieved through the management of data, statistical and financial information and analyses.
  • Ensure appropriate policies, practices and procedures are in place to support safe and efficient operations and work environment.
  • Ensure development, preparation and implementation of emergency and disaster response plans.
  • Identify and develop improvement initiatives, processes and procedures, assessing viability, implementation risks, cost impacts and effectiveness.
  • Establish professional, service quality and operational performance indicators, assessing performance outcomes against standards and benchmarks.
  • Manage strategic alliances with members of the healthcare industry, community organizations, government agencies, regulatory bodies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:         
  • Undergraduate degree in Nursing or an Allied Health Profession Nursing, Allied Health, Eligibility for registration as a regulated health care professional.  Masters degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Administration or equivalent an asset.
  • 2 years management experience preferred.  Demonstrated communication, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills. Must have a minimum of three years of recent, related clinical experience.
